Question : DNS redirect internally
Hello All,
I have a unique problem I'd like a workaround to... I have an iphone configured with activesync (syncing via an external address: "computername.domainname.C
OM"), problem is... when i'd like to use my internal WIFI, the iphone can't resolve ".com" locally. my mail service is accessible internally as computername.domainname.LO
CAL, but the activesync on the phone tells it to use .com (which allows me to sync via my providors network)
...so i'm syncing via ATT network (externally *.com), and 802.1x/wirelessly (internally *.local).
Is there a way I can tell my windows server 2003 r2, sp2 (forwarded lookup zone, "my domain") to resolve computername.domainname.co
m to a local address?
mail.domainname.com = mail.domainname.local via some DNS magic????
many thanks,
regards,
J
Answer : DNS redirect internally
You need a split DNS system so the external name resolves internally to the internal IP address.
