Question : can you have two wireless routers hooked up to eachother?

I have a new n wireless router.  My roommate has a tivo that has some sort of wirless hookup that can't see our new router.  Is there a way I can plug the old wireless router into a port on my new one?  They have different names.  I just want the old one for tivo.  I have no idea why it can't see it.

I feel like this is something that can be done, but it didn't work right away.  I believe that is because they both have the same ip, but there could be something else.

Thanks

You will need to configure the old router to function WITHOUT DHCP active and it needs to have a different IP-address than the new one.

Once you have set this up, connect the old router, using one of the LAN-ports to one the LAN-ports on the new one (DO NOT USE WAN)

Once the old router is in the network, you can surf to the old routers new IP-address, and configure wireless options (security etc.)
