Question : SMTP DSN Error -> Can't send email!!
|
|
I am trying to send mail using CDONTS object (which does not use Exchange Server but instead uses SMTP Virtual Server), but I get the following error in Event Viewer. All email gets dropped into the "Queue" folder. The emails are adding up and I don't know how to fix the problem. Please help!!! Thank you in advance.
Event Type: Warning Event Source: smtpsvc Event Category: None Event ID: 4000 Date: 5/15/2003 Time: 6:12:30 PM User: N/A Computer: DELL_1650 Description: Message delivery to the remote domain 'excite.com' failed for the following reason: An internal DNS error caused a failure to find the remote server.

My friend, I fully understand your scenario, answer of your query is written in the message shown in ur event view Description: Message delivery to the remote domain 'excite.com' failed for the following reason: An internal DNS error caused a failure to find the remote server
As i said before, ur host name i.e. the smtp server e.g. yourmail.net must be a verifiable host name, in this case SMTP virtual server. When i say verifiable host name, it means yours ISP DNS server. As you said you cant ping or tracert the DNS server, i my wee opinion u cant send emails using CDONT objects. I would suggest to have a look at ur ISP settings and talk to them, i think problem is there.
