Question : Setting up Custom NS in Plesk 8
|
|
I have read a couple tutorials about setting up custom nameservers in Plesk, but I can't get any of them to work. The problem might be because I only have one IP.
So I host about 10 sites on my VPS, I would like to have a couple of them have themselves as their NS. I.E. domain1.com would have ns1 & ns2 .domain1.com, domain2.com would have ns1 & ns2 .domain2.com, but domain3.com would have ns1 & ns2 currentNS.com
Please be very specific because none of the tutorials I've tried work.

Answer : Setting up Custom NS in Plesk 8

Thanks for your help.
I've found this to work: 1) At my domain register, register the host NS1.MYDOMAIN.COM -> IP1 & NS2.MYDOMAIN.COM -> IP2 2) In Plesk->Domains->MyDomain.com->DNS Settings: Delete NS Record with the Value "ns.mydomain.com" and A Record with the Host "ns.mydomain.com" 3) Add A Records: "ns1.mydomain.com" -> IP1 & "ns2.mydomain.com" -> IP2 4) Add NS Records: "mydomain.com" -> "ns1.mydomain.com" & "mydomain.com" -> "mydomain.com" 2) In Plesk->Server->DNS Settings: Add NS Records: With the host blank and the server names: "ns1.mydomain.com" & "ns2.mydomain.com"
And that's it
