Question : Java 32-bit client on an XP 64-bit OS
I am running XP X64 on a PC that requires Java JRE 5 Update 17 32-bit client for an internet application. The Java client shows installed in Add/Remove Prgrams, but it is not running, nor is there anything in the system tray, services, or the desktop. Java applications that require its presence will not run. What suggestions are there?
Answer : Java 32-bit client on an XP 64-bit OS
If you use both 32-bit and 64-bit browser interchangeably, you need a Java Plug-in for each browser. Hence you will need to install both 32-bit and 64-bit Java respectively.
