Answer : Msn and Router

No, you do not put the external ip in the DMZ you put the internal
example I have a router (MN-700)
my internal mahcine has a static ip that I assigned of 192.168.2.10 (the router's ip is 192.168.2.1)
I then put the 192.168.2.10 machine into the dmz (this opens it up to the inernet, incoming requests)
now when someone wants to connect to me
they just need to know the external ip of the routeer (the one assigned by my isp) and the router does the rest, forwarding the requests to 192.168.2.10
Now since I get a dynamically assigned external ip, people ned to know that ip (but it changes
I therefore use www.dyndns.org (free) and update my records there when my ip changes, now people just need to know my pseudo domain name
myname.dyndns.org
they type in (if I was runnning a webserver) http://myname.dyndns.org
and it would resolve to my ip and they would get the web page(s)
