Question : Newly aquired company with different domain name needs to access parent company
Hello, company A (parent) A.com has acquired company B (acquired) B.com
People at B.com need to access resources at A.com in this example it is simply to access a terminal server at company A. They can access the terminal server now but have to use an IP address. Company Admin would like them to use server name compAsvr.
What is the best way to accomplish. (the domain for company B will be going away.
DNS would like to append B.com if I make entries there, would I create a seperate zone in company B's DNS, or is there an easy way to make company A's servers available to company B for the transition.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Answer : Newly aquired company with different domain name needs to access parent company
You should add a conditional forwarder on company B's DNS servers so that they'll forward all DNS queries for A.com to company A's DNS servers.
