Question : Configuring DNS for Win2K3 DC with Netgear Gateway

I am preparing a new Windows 2003 Server R2 and have some 'newbie' questions to ask .... the basic setup is a Netgear Router as the Internet Gateway with the Server attached to LAN.
Server 10.1.1.10 / 255.255.255.0 / 10.1.1.1 / 127.0.0.1
Router is 10.1.1.1
I executed the standard wizard within 'Managing Your Server Roles' to setup DHCP, DNS etc. and since this I can not browse web - I can get pages using IP so assume there is some DNS configuration I am missing.
I have a feeling that I need some sort of 'forwarder' setup on server to point to 10.1.1.1 but not sure exactly where.
Help! :-)

Answer : Configuring DNS for Win2K3 DC with Netgear Gateway

Run the DNS tool. Right click the DNS server, Properties, Forwarders tab. Add the DNS addresses from your ISP there.

When troubleshooting your internet connection, the key is to isolate the cause of the problem. I.e, are you not getting name resolution, or is the problem traffic not getting through? To find out, try and ping www.google.com or something. If it resolves the name to an IP, but does not respond, the problem is traffic. If you don't get an IP, its a DNS problem.
