Question : How to avoid spam and virus for redhat linux mail server

Dear Sir/Madam:

I have redhat enterprise linux ver 5 , the same is configured as mail server using sendmail as MTA but iam getting lots of spam mails also installed Mailscanner but still lots of spam messages are getting into the inbox , please sugget me what to do to avoid spam messages
1, is there any application so thast i  can install and configure to control the spams
2, please suggest me the best method.

The best solution for AV is definately clamav, however you will need to couple this with Amavisd (http://www.ijs.si/software/amavisd/).

To tackle the spam, use spam assassin with baysian learning so you can 'teach' it spam (http://spamassassin.apache.org/).

Alternatively to assist with cutting down the level of spam, check out "greylisting" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greylisting).

search on google for "your_mta +amavisd +clamav +spamassassin" and you will find mountains of websites with suggestions and walkthroughs.
