Question : Network Printer over Wifi

I have a user with a WRT160N wireless router connected to a comcast modem. He has a home that's wired with network ports, but he currently uses a very long usb cable to connect. that cable is connected using usb extensions. He has trouble printing. The printer often shows up as offline, etc. I believe the issues are related to the long usb cable.

I would like to utilize his home network ports. I'm assuming I can patch the network drop to the wireless router and add a static ip to the printer. I'm wondering if that's necessary and if it is, would I find the ip information on the router or the comcast modem?

Any helpful tips would be appreciated.
