Question : Typing Email Address in Format "Last, First <
[email protected]
>"
I receive lots of emails from people whose address is formatted as "Last, First
" so I know that this is valid. However, when I manually type any of these:
"Last, First
"
"Last, First"
Last, First
Outlook (and Gmail) think that this is two addresses, separated by a comma, as follows:
1. Last
2. First
Obviously that's not the desired result. There are lots of emails I have to send to people that I don't want to put in my address book, so I type their address manually. I prefer the Last, First
format as it makes it easier to manage my email.
What is the trick to typing an address as Last, First
and having it stay intact? How can I escape the comma between Last and First so that this problem doesn't occur?
Answer : Typing Email Address in Format "Last, First <
[email protected]

Hello GrayStrickland,
Check:
Tools menu | Options.
Preferences tab | E-mail Options | Advanced E-mail Options.
When sending a message box ... click to clear the Allow comma as address separator check box.
