Question : New file notification

Hello all,

We have a process where User 1 prints a large report to text file which is automatically saved to certain folder, then User 2 now has to use this report filter it through some data mining tools.

Much time can elapse from the creation of the file and User 2's in actions.

Is there a tool that's available that will monitor a particular folder and notify User 2 via email when a new file has arrived?

I'm sorry if this question has been asked already but I've not seen one in my search.

Thanks again,

Answer : New file notification

We use host monitor for network and server monitoring and also for this purpose.  http://www.ks-soft.net/hostmon.eng/
I have also used WinBatch to do similar things.   You could have it running and constantly monitoring the folder or use the scheduler to check at regular intervals.
Back in the windows 95 days we used an excell spreadsheet running VB code to do this.  It was set to check every minute from 7am - 6pm and then every 15 minutes at other times.

Freeware program to do it   http://www.snapfiles.com/get/automailer.html   I have no experience with it but it looks like it will do what you want.
