Question : Cleaned root kit, Internet access broken (network ok, DNS resolution OK, internet ping ok)
Hi all,
One of my customers brought me a PC (HP netbook with no CD Drive) infected with a rootkit. I could clean it using combofix but the Internet Access is still broken.
network is ok and I can ping anything on the web.
I tried winsockfix, dia-a-fix, installed IE8, reinstalled network card, nothing works.
The 'broken connection assistant included in IE8' tells me that the ports 80, 443 and 21 are closed.
DNS resolution is ok
I tried deactivating MS Firewall, didn't help. The pc is several days old ... almost no application is installed.
Thanks for your help
