Question : Port 3268 on Windows 2000 PDC not listening
|
|
Can anyone explain why port 3268 on a Windows 2000 SP4 Server Primary Domain Controller is not listening/open? Their isn't any third party software or tcp/ip filtering blocking it. How would I turn the port on?
Thanks!

No such thing as a PDC in AD so it's not quite as clear cut at that.
3268 is only active if the Global Catalog is running on that server. Could you open Active Directory Sites and Services, find the server and select the properties for it's NTDS Settings and see if the Global Catalog box is checked?
If that's checked and the port isn't listening then there may be a problem. But no point in doing anything until it's checked.
