Question : E00.chk file is corrupted

My Exchange 2000 server hung up today and after rebooting the server, I found that my E00.chk file is listed as being "recovered fragments" instead of a file.  I back up the Information stores every night but in looking at the backup I found that this particular file was omitted from being backed up.  What is the best way to recover from this?  Please help, need minimal loss of data.

any errors in the application logs regarding store not mounting?
run eseutil /mh against priv1.edb and pub1.edb and check the database state. it should say "clean shutdown" or "dirty shutdown"

don't run any other switch with eseutil. just run eseutil /mh and let me know the state.
