what is the difference between a circuit switch and a packet switch...and how does a packet switch differ from a router ?

 circuit switches can be mechanical as well,  packet switch is a software,
a packet switch does not always need to make a routing decision (a level 3 duty) , think of bridges that interconnect lans.
