Question : Deny MAC addresses receiving IP's from DHCP
|
|
Is it possible (either in raw NT4 or via freeware/shareware) to prevent specific MAC addresses from receiving an IP address from the DHCP server. This is to prevent laptops and unauthorised computers from logging onto a domain/server. Other solutions would be good too.

You can use switches to do this. Try looking into the advanced features on a 3com or cisco switch.
You can create port locking rules which only allow one mac address to be logged into a single port. This requires a fair bit of maintenance however if security is an issue well worth a look into.
Therefore port1 = aa-aa-aa-aa-aa-aa-aa etc etc
