Question : Can't load any Network device drivers after infection
My client's machine had a virus infection that we have now cleared up. In the aftermath, we find that all the devices under "Network Adapters" are not loading. Each of them has a yellow exclamation with the error "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing (Code 39)".
I have tried reloading the Nvidia nForce drivers from the disk, no joy. I then installed a new Realtek Ethernet card, which XP always picks up on its own, but it gets the same result.
The devices seem to be properly identified and they even seem to be locating their drivers (I can see driver versions and file locations under Driver Details) but still no go.
Any ideas?
