Question : Lan-Express IEE802.11  PCI adpter

Hi,

I have a notebook with a build-in Lan-Express IEE802.11g PCI adpter ,Windows XP. When I use it  at the same place with my friend , it shows that my friend's signal strength:very good,but my signal strength:very low!! Why?Maybe the wireless configuration is not correct?

If you're associated with the access point, the configuration is correct.
You friend's adapter just has a little better antenna or noise rejection capability than your card, or his software could be over-zealous in reporting the signal strength to make it's customers happy campers.

My office is in between my wife's desktop with an SMC2662W mounted about five feet up on the wall and our AP.
My laptop (w/ Netgear401), in spite of being 20 feet closer to the AP, usually reports 70% signal strength while her's is over 90%, though I rarely have a problem.
