Question : Any way to find IP address knowing MAC address?

Does anyone know if there is any way to get an IP address by knowing a computer's MAC address?  The purpose of this is to be able to use a remote management software.  Our IP addresses are dynamic and if there was a progran out there that would translate a MAC address to an IP address, this would be very beneficial.
Thanks,
Avi

Answer : Any way to find IP address knowing MAC address?

Since MAC's would only be seen localy by anything on the same subnet eg PC's all on the same switch.
It would have to be something local.

Now from each computer you can type 'arp -a' at a dos prompt to see the arp table IP -> MAC.

Otherwise I guess you could have your software generate an arp for to get the IP.

Remember also not everything with an IP will have a MAC.
If this software is strictly for management of local ethernet devices then you will be safe.
