Question : Event ID 7062 DNS Server ecountered a packet addressed to itself

I setup a domain today and everything was working fine but I kept seeing this error in DNS. I've set up dns, have the server's dns set to itself, use a forwarder to the ISP's dns server, and have dhcp giving the server's address to the clients as DNS, but this keeps coming up. Everything looks like it's working right but obviously somethings wrong. I've reinstalled DNS and even used one of the accepted answers in here with no such luck. I also checked another client's server who I do work for and found the same error, yet they never complain about traffic/connection issues.

Is this something to ignore and is a very common issue or is there a way to resolve this?

Event ID 7062

The DNS server encountered a packet addressed to itself on IP address 207.15.196.16. The packet is for the DNS name "x.myspace.com.". The packet will be discarded. This condition usually indicates a configuration error.

Check the following areas for possible self-send configuration errors:
  1) Forwarders list. (DNS servers should not forward to themselves).
  2) Master lists of secondary zones.
  3) Notify lists of primary zones.
  4) Delegations of subzones.  Must not contain NS record for this DNS server unless subzone is also on this server.
  5) Root hints.

Answer : Event ID 7062 DNS Server ecountered a packet addressed to itself

Rather than repeat it, have a look at the suggestions on EventID.net:

If none of those options seem plausible try running NetDiag and possibly DCDiag, on the server to see if they uncover more detailed error information. They are available as part of the windows Resource kit or from:
