Question : New Sever Build

Hello,

 I am doing a new installation of server 2008. It will be by Domain Controller/File Server. I am going to statically IP the server. Do I need to install DNS services BEFORE i run dcpromo? Or should I install during the dcpromo setup?

Also heres a stupid question. Once configured - so I need to add my DC to its own domain?

Answer : New Sever Build

If you run dcpromo, it will setup DNS and sets network properties too.
Do not configure DNS or its settings and run dcpromo.
After this everything will be ok and this is the simplest method (with virtually no place you can make mistake).
