Question : Removing workstations from a domain when the domain controller is not present or accessable
Sounds like a simple question and hopefully it will be. I have a group with 4 laptops - running windows XP (not sure if home or pro edition though!). They have moved offices. In the previous office the laptops were members of a domain - which I have no information for. Now they have moved offices they want to move the 4 laptops to a workgroup but as they are still configured to be members of the previous domain I am unable to change their network settings. Is there a way to do this without taking the laptops back to the previous office and removing them from the domain after connecting them back in? Re-installing windows is not an option.
Answer : Removing workstations from a domain when the domain controller is not present or accessable
Log in as local administrator and you should be able to remove the PC. It will still ask for credentials but just use the local admin ones and you should be set.
