Question : Users taking long time to log in
One of my clients has a user that takes excessively long to log into his machine first thing in the morning when he gets there (5-7 minutes) & when he logs off at night. I know he has a roaming profile & his My Documents folder is full of AutoCAD files, fairly large in size. Is there anyway to shrink that time? Windows 2000 Server + a highend HP workstation with XP Pro.

Sounds like all the big CAD files are being transferred between his pc and the server everytime he logs on and off. Why not create a home directory for him on the server and assign it a drive letter which he can save all his files in. Another alternative is to just create a new folder in the root directory EG c:\CADFILES in which he can store all his files. Places like desktop and my documents are all included in the roaming profile. That should shorten the Log on/off period.
