Question : IP adress conflicts

Have an odd ip conflict issue that pops up every so often and I can't figure it out to save my life. I have DHCP running on my WIndows 2003 Dc that supplies ip address for my clients. Every once and a while I'll have random clients getting "there is an IP address conflict with another system on the network" message when the start their pc. I then will continue to log into the client and get the ip address it thinks is conflicting. Then I turn off the client go to my dhcp server and check and see what other device is using the conflicted IP address. Every time this happens my dhcp client shows that the only device with the conflicted ip address is the client getting the error message. I then delete the ip address record out of the server and reconcile the  scope and then ping the conflicted ip address to see if anything comes back (which it never does). I then restart the client and it still comes up with the same ip conflict error message. The only solution that I've come up with is to either static ip the client or take the ip adress out of the scope. I have a gut feeling that the issue has something to do with my Sonicwall not properly releasing ip addresses the few VPN clients I have use but have not found any way to support this theory. Is there anything I'm missing or can do to resolve this?

Answer : IP adress conflicts

In the DHCP Manager, right click on the server and go to Properties.  Conflict Detection Attempts is under the Advanced tab.  By default it is set to 0.
