Question : Netgear

I have a netgear dg632 modem/router and a netgear fvs318v3 vpn firewall router connected with a straight cat 5e cable I have them configured as follows

DG632 is set in modem full bridge mode

FVS318 WAN is set to PPPOE with correct login and password
Static ip (we have a static ip address) with correct dns servers
I have left the default MAC address setting as is

The DG632 shows as connected with expected up and down speeds
The problem is that the fsv318v3 sees nothing from the modem I have tried using DHCP instead of fixed ip and have tried the setup in different locations, all the firmware is up to date on both devices

Any ideas

Answer : Netgear

What is the ip address of the modem?

If this is on the same subnet the only recourse that you might have is to contact Netgear directly.

I have a layer three switch that would not accept different VLANS and the only way to correct this was to contact Netgear.

It's a shame that they don't have free tech support out of the box.

Best of luck.
