Question : Something wrong with ipconfig and winipcfg in my Windows XP ... advise needed
|
|
Hi Experts,
I'm using Windows XP Profesional. Recently, I noticed that :-
#1# In cmd prompt, when I typed ipconfig, it cannot show the ip address at all
c:\> ipconfig Windows IP Configuration
c:\> ipconfig/all
Windows IP Configuration
Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : schong Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . : Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Unknown IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : Yes WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : Yes
#2# When I type winipcfg (either in command prompt or in start-->run)
C:\>winipcfg 'winipcfg' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
I'm connecting to ADSL thru USB Prolink wireless adaptor, to my home wireless router
[desktop] <--> [USD wireless adaptor] <---> [wireless router] <---> [ADSL modem] <---> [phoneline]
I can still serve the net without any problems :- e.g. : I can still :- 1) update anti virus patterns 2) connect to WWW 3) download from http, ftp 4) etc ...
However, when I open my Window Media Player 10, trying to do "check For Player Updates", I cannot perform update, as it complaint saying :
An unexpected error has occurred. Setup was not able to detect any Windows Media updates. Please try again later.
I can't recall what has been done corrupting it. Can experts pls kindly help me to root cause the problem, and provide a solution to it.
Thank you very much in advanced. :)
Best Regards, shchong2

Looks like you need to uninstall your network drivers, reboot, and reinstall them. Make sure you have the correct version.
Winipcfg doesn't exist under Windows XP.
