Question : Remove vlan id on cisco switch catalyst 3550
|
|
Hello all,
scenario: Users-- (Trunk port)Catalyst3550_01(Trunk port) -- Bandwidth Manager -- (Trunk port)Catalyst3550_02 -- Cisco router 3660--Internet Vlans are only used to control traffic on the bandwidth manager, no other needs Users comes with different vlan ids
Our problem is that we need to create a sub interface for each vlan on the cisco router because we cannot configure it in trunk mode as the switches and for a specific reason too complicated to explain here, we don't want to do that so is there any way to remove the vlan id for the traffic going out from Catalyst3550_02 ?
Thanks

Yes, the routing for multi layer switches is the same as routers. Looks like you're aware of the requirements, especially having to explicitly enable routing on the 3550.
I've found a Cisco reference that has a 3550 to router connection that should help: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk389/tk815/technologies_configuration_example09186a008015f17a.shtml
