Question : Cannot share files between computers

Hello, this has probably been asked quite a few times but I did not find anything in the "time tested" area, so forgive me if it's a little redundant.

Anyways, I'm trying to set up filesharing between 2 computers on a home network of mine. Both computers are running WinXP SP2 (fully updated), the latest Norton System Works, and I am using a linksys router (not wireless). I'm not at home right now, so unfortunately I cannot give you the model number until later, if anyone needs it.

Both computers have perfect internet access, are on the same workgroup (MSHOME), and can see eachother in the "add network place" window, but cannot see eachother's shared folders.

I'm pretty sure this is some kind of problem with the windows firewall, norton worm protection, and the router's firewall all conflicting with eachother, but I can't seem to find a solution that works.

I have tried disabling windows firewall, norton worm protection, and as far as I can tell, filesharing is enabled in all applications... but it still cannot see any shared folders.

Any ideas?

Answer : Cannot share files between computers

Familiar problem: Best bet is to change the workgroup to something more personal like DoubleD or something and im sure your ips are 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.0.2 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 and your gateway set to your router. If that fails try changing "Deny access to this computer from the network" located at Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Local Security Policy > Local Policies > User Rights Assignment. If there is "Guest" or "Everybody" remove it so its only Support_[RandomNumberHere]. At the top of the same screen change "Access this computer from the network" and add Everyone, Guest. If you still have a problem then you can change "Network Access: Let Everyone permissions apply anonymous users" under Security Policies on the left to enabled.

Let me know if that worked :). Public Holiday in South Africa Tomorrow so see to your problem on Monday!~:)
