Question : Cisco 2501 Router and Catalyst 1912 Switch SERIAL connection???

Is it possible for me to connect my 2501 to my 1912 via the serial port on the router (DB60) and the AUI (DB15) port on the switch?  In other words.....could I use a 'custom' serial cable that had a DB60 end (for the router), and a DB15 end (for the Switch)???  Then I could go from my cable modem via the AUI port on the router to the switch via the serial cable, then out to all my other computers and devices.

Thanks for the Input!

Hi devsolns,

I am afriad you have no chance... Like Calvinetter says, you would need a very unique device to convert that, and to be honest I really dont think one exists!

If you are trying to be able to connect to your router externaly, and then bounce of so you can manage your switch, that is possible via the console and aux ports on your devices. You can make up a custom cable that connects between the two so you get "console" access to both.

Alternativly you can connect to your router, then telnet across!....

That is, of course, if thats what you are trying to achieve.

Best regards
