Question : How do i sort out "The Network path was not found " error message when trying to Join a Domain?
|
|
I have a XP Pro SP2 client and a Windows 2003 Server. I am trying to connect this client to a domain. I have been successful with several other computers. On this particular computer I am having problems. It prompts me for the user name and password. I enter an administrator's credentials and click OK. After several seconds, I get this error message: The following error occurred attempting to join the domain "roads.gov.zm": The Network path was not found.
A side note: When I try to open \\roads.gov.zm I get the message: The Network path was not found.
I can ping roads.gov.zm server with no problems. Other XP Pro SP2 computers on the network have no trouble navigating to \\roads.gov.zm or joining the domain.

Make sure that the DNS preferred server on the workstation points to your windows DNS server (normally the domain contoller).
To join to a domain called roads.zm you generally only have to enter roads in the dialog box, do not enter the hostname and do not enter the domain suffix.
