Question : Automatic discovery of the bluetooth devices

Colleagues,

Imagine, that there are several dozen medical devices in the hospital. All of them have a bluettoth transmitter, and have to talk to the central station through bluetooth COM ports. From time to time I need to look for new devices in the vicinity, and open new COM ports. Is there an API, which allows doing this? Does bluetooth expose any kind of standard API?
