juanr - the event You see is probably due to a misconfiguration in the AIX NTP server, what I mean is that (presumably) some configuration parameter is missing in the AIX NTP service configuration and this parameter is ignored by other AIX boxes but required by other clients, I suggest You to download the CyberKit program
http://www.cyberkit.net
next run the program and select the "time" tab enter Your AIX box address and try the various protocols (Time, DayTime, SNTP) if SNTP doesn't work You'll know for SURE Your AIX box is either misconfigured or NOT running an NTP daemon, in this latter case You should consider using the NT box and the w32time service as a primary time source for Your network and setting up the AIX box to require time from the NT box.
Let me know...
