HI,
I'm always confused between wireless networking hardware like routers access points and gateway's. Please can someone help me out by giving me an explanation of what these 3 devices do and what is the difference between them.

what they call a gateway is most of the time a router and accesspoint and this type of router supports broadband/cable/dsl in general. Mostly used to connect your wireless network to internet. A router is mostly used for high bandwidth support between different wireless and/or ethernet networks. An access point is like a HUB in ethernet. It either supports only wireless or wireless and ethernet. If only wireless you will need if you do not like to setup your wireless network cards in ad-hoc mode. If it supports ethernet and wireless it is ideal to connect your wireless network onto the ethernet network, this device does not route traffic meaning all devices have to be in the same IP address range.
