Question : Alternatives to qmail

As I understand it, qmail is no longer being maintained.  While it works, the 100-patch headache that installation requires is a bit tiresome, and maintaining a Rube-Goldberg email service is not on my priority list.  Aside from going back to postfix, what other alternatives are out there?

This will be for flavors of Linux (Ubuntu, RHE, et al).  I'm looking for ease of configuration and management, as well as extensibility for AV and spam scanners (a-la SpamAssassin), and RBL lookups.  A GUI is not a necessity...I prefer working from shell.

Answer : Alternatives to qmail

I hadn't heard that QMail was no longer maintained, but imo it was never a reasonable option.

I don't know why you would object to Postfix - it's a fine MTA - but the only real alternatives are Exim and Sendmail - and I wouldn't bother with Sendmail.  Either Exim4 or Postfix are available as binary packages for both Ubuntu and Redhat and have hooks for AV,spam scanners and RBL
