Question : Connect to Nokia 8210 through Data Cable

I have been trying to connect to a Nokia 8210 through a data cable, but couldn't receive response for any AT command. Anyone can help? By the way, I'm using Java Comm API.

(I presume that you have tested with a simple tool like Hyperterminal)

I cannot find anywhere what type of connection the 8210 has. I suspect it uses the Nokia propietry protocol, because those phones which use GSM/AT serially are designated as such.

Just because it uses AT on Ir does not imply that it does the same serially, because, in the serial case, the data cable is NOT an inactive device. These data cables have propietry chips hidden in the plug which perform a lot of the serial functionality.

I am assuming that you have the correct data cable - made by Nokia for *that* phone!
