Question : Remote Desktop Access with 2Wire Gateway Wireless Router/Modem
|
|
It has to do with me wanting to access my desktop when I'm at work. I use windows xp pro remote desktop and I enter the home main ISP ip address and get my desktop to come up. Now that I have turned firewall back on on the router, do I just need to open a port up to safely log in? I can post a SS of my options if you need to see what I'm talking about.

But for the most part you will need to open port 3389(thats remote desktop port) on the firewall on the computer. And also use port fowarding in your router to poing all incoming traffic on port 3389 to go to 192.168.1.1(your desktop ip address)
Look for port forwarding on your router and you can either take a picture of it and post it like you did before or give me the exact model number of your router and ill try and find it for you.
Youll need to make sure that you test it outside your house network to insure that portforwarding is set up on the router correctly......oh scratch that i just tested it for you since you posted your ip in the other post it looks like its working beautifully
