Question : VPN keepalive problem - dynamic IP and a D-Link DI-804HV
|
|
An IPsec tunnel is set up between two subnets 192.168.1.0 on a dynamic public IP gateway with a D-Link DI-804HV 192.168.0.0 on a static public IP gateway with a Cyberguard SG-560
From the dynamic end, pinging the other subnet brings up the VPN, but not the other way around. Is there any way around this?
The DI-804HV does have a ping address setting, but I don't think this is for keeping the VPN permanently up.
Perhaps is the only solution to write a bat script to ping every hour?
Thanks Mark

The reason you can not ping from the static to the dynamic is the IP may be changing, this is normal and OK. You can create the .bat script to ping every HR (or just create a scheduled task in windows)
Or check your VPN server and clients for time out settings, and set to 0 (usualy for no time out)
