Question : Received SPAM email from "system email" to install a patch from Microsoft

Received an email thru our hosted exchange to a valid email on exchange.  How can this happen and can it be prevented?

Answer : Received SPAM email from "system email" to install a patch from Microsoft

If you setup an SPF (Sender Policy Framework) record in your domains DNS records and then implement SPF checking for inbound emails, you will stop this type of malicious spam.

If you also check against IP blacklists, such as the Barracuda Block List, you should also block most mail like this.

Alternatively, implement a better anti-spam solution such as Vamsoft ORF (www.vamsoft.com).
