Question : SMTP email from sql server
I have been playing with SQL mail and seem to have gotten it working pretty easily. The only issue is that my companies IT group does not allow generic ID's especially with passwords that do not need to be changed. So i would like to figure out how to send emails from the server using SMTP.
I currently use the pickup folder to send out emails so i figure it cant be too complicated. Does anyone have any help they can offer?

just install a smtp service on any local machine.
