Question : Reverse DNS Failed ...

Recently I been experiencing problems with my DSL conectivity and I contacted the DSL provider..so he fixed the problem with the lines (I don't know for sure if they did now) ..according with them the lines were causng the connection to go down for a few seconds... so apparently they fixed the problem..

Then when I went to the www.mxtoolbox.com to run diagnostic I got the message : "Revers DNS FAILED!" , then run it one more time and everything looks OK...

I have check my DNS server and I don't see any errors on the event viewer.

Any idea what could be the problem?.. or what could be causing that?.

Answer : Reverse DNS Failed ...

You go the error once, and ran the same test again and it came back ok? It sounds like just a hiccup. DNS resolution (typically) uses UDP which is connectionless, the request or reply might have just gotten lost in the tubes. I wouldn't worry about it, unless you keep getting the error or see it randomly. In which case it's probably the ISP's server either acting stupid or being under too high a load.
