Question : mobile phone internet access how to

hello all,

i want to use my mobile phone to connect my pc to the internet.

i want to know:-

     1. does my phone need anything else other than an infrared port?
     2. what do i need to buy for my pc?
     3. is it fast?
     4. i want to do the same with a laptop, which laptop should i get?

I currently access the net with my laptop & T68i phone.

All you need is a phone with ir, an ir port on the computer. You might need to install the modem software, but if this is the case this should have been supplied with your phone.

You will need to contact your network provider to obtain the dial-up settings, and depending on the network you may need to set up an ISP account with them.

If you have GPRS, the speed is quite acceptable, but GSM access is slow (14.4k), and only really any use in an emergency. 3G access is superb (but expensive here in the UK).

Any laptop with an ir port will suffice, but if you are looking to the future, Bluetooth is the way to connect.
