Question : How to set up https in server 2000 and 2003

I need to set up my IIS webserver in server 2000 to use https.  I have installed the certificate and under directory security told the page/pages to use SSL.  (128 bit or not, it doesn't work)  When I test the https connection it doesnt seem to want to use https or bombs out with a page cannot be displayed error.  Although when I use a web browser to go to the page from the server itself I will get prompted to accept the certificate and then the page is encrypted.....

after this I may need to do the same process to server 2003... so if there are any differences please let me know....

Thanks for looking into it

If you already have the certificate on the Default Web Site, it should work unless there is an issue with certificate.

Check if you have 'Private Key' assigned to the certificate. You can click on 'View Certificate' and you should be able to see it under the 'Valid From'. You will be able to see this only on the Default Web Site.

Also try using HTTPS://IP_address_of_server and check if that helps...

let us know how it goes...
