Question : XP home not connecting to other computers...
I have a small network of 4 computers. Win98, Win2000, and WinXP(home). The WinXP home was recently added to the network (Dell 2400).
Problem: WinXP can not access any of the other computers files or printers. I can map it, other computers can be seen from my network place but once I try to connect it would give me an error:
"\\server is not accessible. You might not have permission to use the network resource. Contact System administratir.... The network path was not found." This happens when I try to connect to the win2000 computer (is a server computer running under a workgroup).
"\\sharename is not accessible..........Same..
. The specific server cannot perform the requested operation" This happens when I try to access the win98 computers.
More info: the win98 computers can only goes as far as seeing the shared files(which takes a long time) on the winxp computer. When trying to open the file it gives the error
Pinging = DONE (all computers can ping each other)
