Question : import image with DXL into notes

I currently programatically loading a DXL document into Notes.  These documents have images (.jpg, .xls, .gif, etc) associated with the file.  I have currently have a link to these images in the dxl that I import.  However, I have been asked to include the images with the file and not have link.  Is there a way i can import an image into a notes document?
