Question : Domain not available
|
|
Hi Experts,
We have 39 PCs connected to a domain and students normally login to the domain. Today some students were able to login to the domain but some computers show why "domain is not available". Network specs: workstations(W2kpro)/Server (W2k Server)
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Thanx in advance,
Nan

Check the event logs on your server for any odd entries. Post the Event ID numbers and basic text of any non-normal events that you find.
Is the server busy? Control-Alt-Delete-->click Task Manager-->go to the Performance tab. Check to see if the processor is consistently running at high levels, probably anything over 20-25% is high. If it is high, go to the Processes tab-->click the CPU column heading twice, if anything besides System Idle Process is at the top, note what it is. If you can identify it, stop the application/service that may be using it. If you cannot identify it either post it here or reboot the server.
Go to a problem workstation, log off and log back in, does the problem go away?
Some further troubleshooting steps-- Is there any pattern that you can determine regarding who is having the problem and who is not? What are the differences between the two groups?
