Question : Zenworks 7 Inventory Service will not start on server (startinv.ncf

Cannot start Inventory Service on Netware 6.5 Zenworks 7 Server

Error on console:  
java: Class com.novell.zenworks.desktop.inventory.servercommon.ZENWorksInventory
ServiceManager exited with status -1                                            

Error in Consoleone:
Properties of Inventory Service - Status Report - Server Status

5/2/06 7:45 PM,Service Manager,Error,610: The Database Location policy is not configured.                        

Any thoughts?

You mean you're going to blow everything away - all user objects, etc. - and start over from scratch?  That sounds like more fun than a barrel of monkey scat.

How many issues are there, that such a radical move is deemed best?  Was this, like, an upgrade from 5.1 upgraded from 4.11 upgraded from 3.12 situation where you've got years of garbage and perhaps some poor design decisions or something?

Maybe you could try installing a new tree on a clean server, and then migrate just the good stuff from the old tree using the Server Consolidation tool?
