Question : Memory errors and blue screen
Dell 5150 desktop just over 3 years; have not added any new hardware/software recently. Getting memory errors (i.e. - xxxx application error; instruction at xxxx referenced memory...memory could not be written). Different applications and memory locations. Also getting occasional blue screen errors. Ran Microsoft memory diagnostic - found errors on Dimm 2 memory, Dimm 1 ok. Removed Dimm 2 - reran diagnostic and now it is reporting errors on Dimm 1 (which was fine before!)
No apparent pattern to the errors - sometimes on reboot, sometimes while in IE. Sometimes causes PC to shut down.

Answer : Memory errors and blue screen
test 1 stick at the time, in each slot with memtest86+ from
www.memtest.org
if both sticks report bad, it can be the ram controller onboard.(= new mobo )
also check if the bad ram is not the Cache ram
