Question : Open ldap utility

Hi all,
I have almost no experience with ldap. Now i want to create and store users in a free ldap utility on my local workstation. Please let me know which one to use and any good tutorial on how to configure and install the ldap utility on a windows xp machine.

Also, it would be great if someone can let me know how can i configure this ldap utility with tomcat/Apache so that whenever a user tries to access the servlet or any application deployed in these servers, he will be asked to authenticate against ldap.

Thanks you very much.

Answer : Open ldap utility

Overview:
Active Directory Application Mode (ADAM) is a part of Microsofts fully integrated directory services available with Windows Server 2003, and is built specifically to address directory-enabled application scenarios. ADAM runs as a non-operating-system service, and, as such, it does not require deployment on a domain controller. Running as a non-operating-system service means that multiple instances of ADAM can run concurrently on a single server, and each instance can be configured independently.

Active Directory Application Mode represents a breakthrough in directory services technology that provides flexibility, and helps organizations avoid increased infrastructure costs.

It is Free, and runs on windows XP.
