Question : Error 771: network busy (XP & Win95 parallel cable connection)
|
|
This error occurred when I tried to connect these two computers:
A: Windows 95, pentium, 233Mhz, 32MB RAM B: Windows XP, pentium 4, 2.6Ghz, 512MB RAM
After setting direct cable connections and trying to connect, I get this error message:
"Connecting over parallel cable... Error 771: The connection attempt failed because the network is busy."
Now I only have four connections: one dialup, one direct, and two LAN or highspeed internet. The two LAN connections are disabled and unplugged. The cable works, and I enabled NetBios on Win95 and NWLink IPX/NetBios on the WinXP.
Also interesting is that the XP immediately displays this error message after I click the connect button. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Plus, out of interest, why do you need this? The ethernet connections with a crossover ethernet cable would be much faster.
